After debuting some of 1 of 8’s photographic work earlier this week, I didn’t think that there would be yet another opportunity to document yet another Octamom child’s entry into the digital arts. And then there was Hurricane Ike.
M took off Wednesday afternoon after scrambling for plywood, hunting down the elusive Plylox clips and headed for the coast to board up our house that is on the market. 3 and 4 of 8 tagged along to be helpers, and as they were leaving the house, I charged 3 of 8, as oldest son, to keep his father awake on the drive, to be a good helper , and to take my little Sony and to take lots of pictures. I didn’t know what kind of pictures we would end up with, but I thought it might be worth a shot (hee hee…get it?…I’m cracking myself up…okay, look, we’ve had a couple of stressful days here, people…)
The Hurricane Preparedness team came straggling in Thursday afternoon, hot, sweaty, tired, sore, hungry….with pictures. And so, with great pride, I debut 3 of 8’s premiere exhibit of photojournalistically capturing the plywood storm before the storm…..
Love this shot. M is beginning the unloading o’ the plywood from my 15 passenger van…which we quickly shoveled out from our previous beach trip just 3 days before….

Please admire this pile of plywood. It is like spun gold down on the coast, elusive and precious….and expensive…..

M being chipper….and let me tell you, the smile is fake. Fake, fake, fake. He is not happy. He is totally Dale Carnegie-ing this experience….
The installment begins…
Ominous skies…
Cutting and measuring, cutting and measuring…
Installing the Plylox clips…
The interior view….
All boarded up…(thought this was a great shot on 3 of 8’s part…)
Ready for the storm…
…and the obligatory self-portrait….
Our thoughts and prayers are with those along the coast. We are praying for successful evacuations, protected property and most importantly, for safety for coastal residents. And we sure wish we were the ones who came up with those dang expensive Plylox clips….Fri, 12 Sep 2008 10:03:00 +00002008-09-12 10:03:00julielylescarr
