10 years ago, my very first book baby was published and became a best seller. So incredibly grateful. And now, all these years later, I’m humbled and thankful that #raisinganoriginal is helping a new generation of parents discover and celebrate the originality in their children, beyond comparison, beyond parenting trends.

God hasn’t asked us to raise perfect children. He’s asked us to raise purpose children.

Sometimes, the very things we see as a lack are the very places that God shows up in the richness of his purpose.

Sometimes one of the most valuable steps to learning who you are is learning who you aren’t.

Whether your child is a challenge or a charm, an easy-going peacemaker or a complex essence, God has imbued him or her to be a presence in this generation, in this culture, in this epoch. And he appointed you as that child’s parent

Your child is here for a God purpose. You are here to parent that purpose.

A child is not a being to be fixed. She’s a being to be focused.

The boundaries of righteousness are firm, but the room within the kingdom of God, for personality and sparkle and expression gives gracious elbow room.

It’s amazing to see what the Lord will do when we’re willing to step outside the confines of ‘normal.’

God builds into the human experience and incredible foundational truth: we are all, each of us, an original

Three Things I’m Not Doing Anymore…
(disclaimer…trying to not do anymore)
1. Over-explaining myself.
I used to think if I could just find the right words, everyone would understand—and then agree.
Now I realize some decisions don’t need a PowerPoint presentation.
Sometimes clarity is simply: This is what I’ve decided.
2. Saying yes just because I can.
Capability is not calling.
Availability is not obligation.
And just because I can carry something doesn’t mean it belongs in my arms.
3. Waiting until I feel completely ready.
I’ve spent enough time thinking I needed more confidence, more clarity, more time, more proof.

Sometimes you just have to take the next step and let clarity catch up with you.

I’m not interested in becoming a more polished version of who everyone else expects me to be.
I’m much more interested in becoming fully myself.
And honestly?
That feels like a pretty good thing to get better at with age.

Finding the perfect candles, updating your desk accessories, taking one more course, reading one more book, telling yourself you’ll start when you feel ready…yeah, I’ve done all these things in the name of self-care. But if you’ll allow me a moment of tough love, the best care you can give yourself is to actually get busy on your actual dream, not just the busy self-care around it.

Saying it ‘cuz I need to hear it again (and again). And maybe you do too.
