Funny, gracious, visionary.
That’s filmmaker Jon Erwin.
He and his brother Andrew have been behind the camera since they were teens. Their new film, I Can Only Imagine, tells the story behind the MercyMe song written and performed by Bart Millard that would become the most downloaded song in Christian music and topped several charts, both in the faith and secular genres. The film stars such cinema legends as Dennis Quaid and Cloris Leachman, with a fantastic role played by author and speaker Priscilla Shirer (who also starred in War Room).
I have a fascinating conversation on The Modern Motherhood Podcast with Jon about the film. And we also talk about how his parents fostered a creative environment for he and his brother, and how Jon is emulating that for his kids. We unpack the importance of storytelling, of the creative process, and of the current state of entertainment today.
And we laugh. A bunch.
Take a listen.
