Julie Lyles Carr is a best-selling author, popular speaker, business owner, media talent, and content consultant. She is wife to Michael, mom to a bunch. She is the founder of the media and communications company, CarrConsult. In addition to being a national speaker and best-selling author, she is also the co-founder and president of GhostyPro, a ghostwriting agent and training company.
Julie’s company, CarrConsult, provides writing content, content and marketing strategy, brand coaching, and messaging development. Services include ghostwriting, training, coaching, copywriting, editorial services and more. As a content consultant to businesses, she has worked with leading organizations in the healthcare industry, data management, financial services, media, faith, and the nonprofit world. Julie’s best-selling book, Raising an Original, from HarperCollins, was released in September 2016, with Footnotes from Abingdon Press being released in August of 2019. Her ghostwriting work and work as a collaborative writer has now resulted in over twenty titles. Julie has worked with a variety of publishers, including Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Hachette, and more. As a voice artist in commercials and video, Julie is also an audiobook narrator, having voiced over 30 audiobooks (you can find a list of her audiobook narration here). Receiving her Bachelor of Science in Pre-Med/Psychology and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Abilene Christian University, Julie began her career in radio and television as an anchor and reporter. After the birth of her first child, she continued to work in media as a voice-over artist and on-camera personality in advertising. She also owned a successful professional photography business and continues to enjoy wielding the camera.
family life
Married to her college sweetheart Michael for over 30 years, she is mom to Madison, McKenna-Jane, Justus, Maesyn, Jairus, Journey, and twins Merci and Jakin. She is mother-in-law to Alton Avery (Madison’s husband), Lily Ray Carr (Justus’s wife), Yutaka Maki (McKenna-Jane’s husband), and U.S. Marine Brandon James (Maesyn’s husband). Her husband Michael Carr was named the Toastmaster International World Champion of Public Speaking in August of 2020. In 2023, Michael and Julie welcomed their first grandchild.
