So here’s what’s been cookin’ in the secret…
A new podcast!
I’ve been busting to tell all, but made myself wait until it all felt more ‘official’…
So here’s the deets.
As part of CRISTA Media (which has several radio stations and various ministries), I’ll be hosting a brand new podcast called The Modern Motherhood Podcast, presented by All Mom Does. I’ve been working with an amazing team; Rebecca Beckett, Content Coordinator, and Donna Totey, Producer. The first episode drops on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018, where I’ll be welcoming Jamie Ivey (yes, she of The Happy Hour podcast amazingness) to the show.
And be sure and check out some more AMAZING upcoming guests we’ve got coming. Click here to see who we’ve got coming up~you won’t believe it!
I’ve been pretty giddy about this whole endeavor. I started my career in radio and television, and adored it. It was a career that started very accidentally.
Back in college, I was just minding my own business in an organizational comm class back in the day. I gave some sort of presentation, and a guy in my class gave me some spiel about my spoken voice quality or something or other. I thought he was just trying to get my number. Turns out, he was the producer for a radio station. Still thinking it all might be a big joke, I made arrangements to go for an audition at the station he worked for.
And, lo and behold, it wasn’t an elaborate hoax to get my phone number. He really did work in radio.
And…more stunningly, they hired me.
Fast forward a few years, and I also ended up in television. My degrees are in psychology and English literature, which in some ways, makes sense that I would be interviewing people (psychology) and writing up copy (English lit). But because radio/television wasn’t my major, I was always slightly stunned to find myself behind the microphone and in front of the camera.
I loved it.
Fast forward a few more years and I walked away.
Walked away to be with my baby daughter.
I kept my foot sorta kinda in the recording booth. I still did some voiceover work for advertising, I occasionally got back in front of the camera for some different projects.
Fast forward a bunch more years…
And here we are.
Back behind the mic, so thrilled to be talking with people who have great insight into the days and times in which we live, how that impacts our parenting, our careers, our faith, our romantic relationships, our concepts of ourselves. We’ll dig into the funny and the tough. The fascinating and the challenging. We’ll find answers and we’ll have conversations that lead to even more questions.
And I can’t wait to go on this ride with you.
Be sure and leave me your feedback here in a comment~I would LOVE to know what questions you have, what topics you’re facing, the areas where you need encouragement, inspiration, information. At the end of the day, that’s what is most important to me, that this be a trusted place for you to come, to laugh, to listen, to give feedback, and to find community.
